We envision It is the role of the Lead Pastor to ensure each of these systems are being implemented thoroughly at the CE campus they lead!

VISUAL PRESENTATION (BUILDINGS, FURNITURE, SIGNAGE, ETC…)

All visual presentation (graphic design, video, social media posts, handouts, and the visual look of any physical CE space) may have a direct positive or negative impact on the ministry at all other CE campuses. CE works hard at developing and protecting high quality visual presentation in every area for the mutual benefit of every CE campus. This requires individual campuses to willingly support shared creative design such as shared logos and websites, combined social media accounts, shared teaching series/videos, regular shared creative content, identical signage, and brand-specific colors, fonts, and other visual elements. Aesthetic preferences at each campus may occasionally need to lower in priority in order to significantly raise quality and impact across all CE campuses. In order to maintain these standards, Lead Pastors and their team members should seek Mission Support approval before purchase of any fixed furniture, signage (including small/directional signs on walls), handouts, building/room design, anything affixed to walls or displayed, equipment that will be publicly seen, large toys in Kid Experience, etc… Church Experience building décor and wall artwork function like a high quality hotel, where a corporate designer sets everything up and occasionally updates it, but local leadership does not rearrange or add to it independently (which achieves a better result across CE compared to most churches). Mission Support almost exclusively designs, prints, and ships all printed materials and handles all graphic/visual design to maintain increasingly high standards of visual excellence!

CE WEBSITES

Church Experience shares one primary website that has a page for each campus. Lead Pastors or a member of their team should provide immediate updates to Mission Support for any new/updated Life Groups, Serving Teams, or outreach events.

CE is “one church” so we have one website presence to represent all CE campuses collectively. We do not plan to have a separate website presence for each campus.
No additional websites with CE logo or information may be created without prior approval of Mission Support. All website creation and purchasing of website domains may only be done through Mission Support.

Lead Pastors personally publishing anything online should not include CE (beyond basic references to CE or extending an invitation to CE) and should not have any CE-related graphics, logos, etc… without the prior approval of Mission Support (and should be modern in style and high-quality content/visual presentation to represent each of us well).

SOCIAL MEDIA

CE has one shared social media presence (see sample list below of some of our shared social media outlets). No other social media pages containing CE logo or information may be created to represent a specific campus.
• CE Facebook Page
• CE Facebook Groups (one for each CE campus)
• CE Instagram Account
CE is “one church” so we have one social media presence to represent all CE campuses collectively. We do not plan to have a separate social media presence for each campus.
Paid social media advertising may be targeted from our CE main pages to any local community without showing up on the main profile page for all of CE. Also, Lead Pastors are encouraged to utilize their own personal profile pages to promote the campus they lead locally which often have bigger followings and engagement than a local public page does.

ONLINE SERVICES

Each CE location has a YouTube page operated by Mission Support. The local campus is responsible for recording a high quality Biblical message each week (either pre-recorded or recorded live during the service) and uploading it to Mission Support (along with the campus teaching notes), where it will have the verses and main points added in the lower thirds of the message. Mission Support will also add an intro and outro, worship music recorded from the Central Campus (at least until that campus is 200-300 people and can provide high quality similarly recorded & produced worship sets), occasional shared creative elements, bumper video, and the CE Update Video. Other local live elements or other events are not uploaded onto the campus YouTube page with few, if any, exceptions.

ADVERTISING

Lead Pastors are responsible for notifying Mission Support of new advertising initiatives beyond what has been approved in the past at that CE campus. All large advertising campaigns (see non-comprehensive list below) must be pre-approved but are almost exclusively produced/contracted out directly by Mission Support (which tends to save money/time for the Lead Pastor and raises quality which impacts all CE campuses).
• All mailers
• All billboards
• All theater ads
• All TV commercials
• All large advertising contracts
• All large social media promotions

CE MERCH

We are blessed to be able to provide CE Merch to our first-time guests across all our campuses through handing out a VIP gift on the Red Carpet as described further in detail in the Frontline section of the CE Essentials! Each VIP family is to receive one free item through the VIP process. CE Lead Pastors and employees may have any reasonable amount of CE Merch free for them or their family (and others as needed, but CE asks pastors to be conservative on this due to cost of the items that are otherwise available for sale).

A Lead Pastor can ask for additional items for their team or to give away for an outreach event, but it would come out of their campus budget at a discounted rate of half the store price.

CE Merch is available for purchase at http://www.churchexperience.tv/merch

CAMPUS FACEBOOK GROUPS

Each campus is responsible for monitoring and maximizing their campus Facebook group linked from their campus website page (with help from Mission Support). This is where people can share prayer requests, give items away to each other, ask for help loading a truck for moving, recruit for Life Groups, and more. The Facebook group “rules” should not be changed, as they are the same for each CE campus (ie.. no network marketing promo, no asking for money, no selling, etc…). Each campus should be continually inviting new people to that campus Facebook group and working to increase engagement.

CCB CAMPUS GROUPS

Each campus has two master groups of active attenders within our CCB (Church Community Builder) database that is kept up to date with all those who have attended the campus (first group) and all those who are serving (second group of “leaders”). The name of the group and its settings should not be changed as they are the same for each master group at every campus. Lead Pastors and their Campus Leadership Team may find these groups especially useful in recruiting and assessing who they haven’t seen in a while and building their local “leadership community” (leaders serving with CE). It is suggested that at least one local leader is regularly scrolling through the group list and reaching out to some of the people (text, call, set up of strategic meetings, etc…) to pastor, connect, encourage, pray for, recruit for serving, and develop the people. Mission Support will work with Lead Pastors in sending out any mass emails or texts to these groups on behalf of the Lead Pastor to ensure consistency in communication and excellence. The Lead Pastor typically writes out the text of their communication, sends it to Mission Support, and the email or text is reviewed and sent from their name through CCB or our mass texting service (independent mass communication services should not be set up with data from CE people).

VIP (FIRST-TIME GUEST) FOLLOW-UP

Mission Support provides the following VIP guest follow-up. Lead Pastors are welcome to (and encouraged) to do initial follow-up, but it does not replace the following process provided by Mission Support.
• Personal text by Monday evening from a Mission Support team member
• Welcome Home email from CE Senior Pastors with CE guest survey
• Their contact info is added to the CE database (CCB) so they will now receive the weekly email, periodic mailings, CE mass texts, etc…
• Welcome to CE hand-written postcard sent by Mission Support

PROMOTIONAL COMMUNICATION

Mission Support will regularly (typically about 2 times per month) send out a mass invite to Sunday services (or other event occurring across all of CE) that goes out to all contacts in our CE database (see list of communication channels used below). Lead Pastors are discouraged from duplicating these processes (below), but encouraged to communicate with the CE campus they lead primarily in the worship service, by sending a mass email/text to everyone at that campus through Mission Support, individual personalized communications, or through posting on their CE Family Facebook group. Mission Support helps campuses with internal and external promotion on many communication channels (examples below).
• Occasional new teaching series mailer (postcard)
• Mass text invite
• Mass email invite
• CE App mass push notification
• Mass sly voice call (goes straight to their voicemail)
• CE weekly email
• Ongoing social media posts

Campus specific mass text messages will be sent through Simple Texting. Lead Pastors may request text messages to be sent to their Campus Group and Campus Leaders Group no more than two times per month. Lead Pastors will send their request to Mission Support at least two days prior to the requested date and include the body of the text message being requested.

All flyers and handouts are designed and printed/shipped by Mission Support. There is a form available at Mission Support online for Lead Pastors and the team teams they lead to utilize to order designed and printed CE materials.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

CE uses shared subscription services (see sample list below of some of our shared subscriptions). No subscription services may be started without prior approval from Mission Support. CE can often create greater efficiency, higher quality, and greater financial savings by having a combined subscription with each Lead Pastor/campus being a user of one shared account. Another advantage is shared account maintenance and subscription payment which are all taken care of by Mission Support.

PASSWORDS & DIGITAL ACCOUNT OWNERSHIP

All digital accounts created for Church Experience or by a CE employee for CE ministry use are considered ‘operated’ by Church Experience. All usernames and passwords for CE accounts (other than personal passwords) must be kept on file with Mission Support.

CAMPUS REPORTING

By each Monday at 3:00pm, a report of campus ministry activity should be submitted to Mission Support by the Lead Pastor which includes that week’s highlights/wins and also that week’s surprises/challenges. An email with a reply form link will be sent out each Sunday morning as a reminder. Attendance reports, financial reports, and Response Cards should be submitted by the Usher Team from the counting room, but Monday at 3:00pm is also the final submission deadline for these documents as well during the initial weeks of a new campus or when an emergency prevented in-service submission by the Usher Team.

COACHING, CAMPUS VISITS, & MISSION SUPPORT COMMUNICATION

Recurring coaching calls, occasional campus visits, meetings, and regular electronic communication can be expected from Mission Support to help, guide, assist, and maintain alignment with CE Essentials. Lead Pastors are expected to respond to all communication from Mission Support in a timely way and with a supportive/collaborative heart posture.

ONGOING CAMPUS PICTURE SUBMISSION

Each campus is responsible for submitting pictures at least two weeks per month (preferably weekly), which should be uploaded to the CE One Drive (pictures are used for advertising, internal promotion, website, social media, etc…). This is typically not the Lead Pastor, but someone on their team.

BRAND STANDARDS & CE LANGUAGE

CE has one shared “Brand Standards” document. This document shares some of the following information in more detail.
• CE colors and fonts
• CE logos and how to avoid using them incorrectly
• Photography and videography guidelines
• Grammar/communication guidelines for print
• Social Media guidelines

Also, our Brand Standards list out numerous phrases we try to replace with more modern language. We say…
• “message” (instead of “sermon”)
• “the weekly” handout (instead of “bulletin”)
• “lobby” (instead of “foyer” or “narthex”)
• “auditorium” (instead of “sanctuary”)
• “relationships” or friendships/hanging out with others (instead of “fellowship”)
• “spiritual growth” (instead of “discipleship”, but we still use “discipleship” as well)
• “life change story” (instead of “testimony” or merely “life story”)
• “leader” (instead of “coordinator” or “volunteer”)
• “employee” or “leader” (instead of “staff member”, or “church staff”)
• “team leader” (instead of “boss”/ “supervisor”)
• “Life Groups” (instead of “small groups”)
• “team members” or “leaders” (instead of “volunteers”)
• “serving” (instead of “volunteering”)
• “food is provided” (instead of “potluck”)

We avoid more traditional words and aim to communicate our unchanging message with modern language. This is a passion (“no translation required”) that’s related to our mission!

We also work hard to communicate about “church” in a way that brings unity. For example, Lead Pastors may refer to the campus they lead as a “church” (gathering of believers), but should not exclusively communicate in this way (should also utilize “campus” internally & externally) so as not to give the impression that the campus is not part of one organization/church philosophically, legally, and theologically (we are “one church”). Language that supports unity (instead of silos) is also encouraged…
• “the campus I lead” or “this CE campus” (instead of “my campus”)
• “this church location” (instead of “my church”)

More importantly than just the specific words that are chosen, the heart behind the words of each leader should be to support the vision that we are grateful in every way to be “one church” with a modern style and that we want to communicate in a way that does not misrepresent those realities.
